Launched in January 2013, the Good Steward Campaign (GSC) is a grassroots campaign organizing college campuses, student ministries, and churches across the country around climate activism. Successfully engaging with Christians across the ideological spectrum, from InterVarsity to St. John's Catholic Newman Center, from Wake Forest School of Divinity to Binghamton University, in the past year GSC scheduled events at 29 universities and built a social media following of over 8,500 facebook and twitter users. We accumulated headlines in major press outlets (The Washington Post, The Huffington Post, Christian Broadcasting Network, Associated Baptist Press, and Sojourners) as well as in college newspapers. GSC also successfully promoted World Food Day as a mode of student engagement and scheduled World Food Day dinners with over 600 students on college campuses. We have been approached by a city-wide divestment movement in the District of Columbia and testified in front of Washington D.C. City Council. Most importantly, we have become a resource for other secular and faith-based environmental groups alike (Citizens Climate Lobby, National Resources Defense Council, etc.) who repeatedly contact the Good Steward Campaign to help them further their goals.
